U.S. Trade Representative Susan Schwab today denied Qualcomm's plea to reverse the import ban on products using its 3G chips. Qualcomm will now approach the Appellate Court one last time before the ban goes into effect on August 8. Some carriers have chosen to license Broadcom's patents on their own to ensure new product launches after Wednesday's deadline, while Qualcomm and Sprint have been testing a work-around. Qualcomm has not publicly made any efforts to reconcile with Broadcom directly. Should no stay or resolution be reached by Wednesday, carriers who have not licensed Broadcom's technology will only be able to launch models that had been imported into the U.S. before June 6th's ban
